Patna,(BiharTimes): The national president of Janata Dal  (United), Sharad Yadav, said on Tuesday that he had fought  for the cause of Dalits throughout his life so there is no  question of running them down.

Talking to the media he strongly denied the report that he  had humiliated and ridiculed Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram  Manjhi over the latter’s comment on becoming the prime  minister.

“Anyone can become the prime minister, why not a Dalit. I  have not said any such thing,” he said adding that he  (Manjhi) had covered a lot of ground to reach this stage and  his remarks should be taken sympathetically. 

“The newspapers have distorted my remarks. It is highly  improper,” he said about the comments made in Kanpur on  Sunday.
