Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar government has brought almost all the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) families in the state under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) scheme.

The only exception are those who pay income tax or are the Grade 1, II and III government officers/employees. This decision was taken by the state cabinet on Tuesday. It will benefit around two crore SC/ST population who are generally under the BPL category. They would be provided food almost free of cost as per the government norms.

The cabinet also approved a general administration department’s proposal to fill up to 50 per cent sanctioned posts of office attendants on contract basis from the Home Guards.
