Patna,(BiharTimes): Union minister of state for Human Resources Development Upendra Kushwaha has strongly opposed RSS-backed “ghar wapsi” campaign, especially in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and also rejected the demand for an anti-conversion law. He had also asked the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre to focus only on development agenda.
“We do not subscribe to RSS-supported ‘ghar wapsi’ events and what Yogi Adityanath said during Sant Samagam at Vaishali. How can one stop one from choosing one’s faith? Though we do not approve of forced conversion, people should continue to enjoy freedom to choose their faith at any point of time,”
the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party leader was quoted by the Indian Express as saying. He said the Prime Minister had “embarked on development agenda and the NDA should stick to it… RSS idea should be
discouraged. The PM should rein in people giving provocative speeches.”
However, another BJP ally in Bihar Ram Vilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party, however, appeared tacitly supporting the Sangh’s stand on conversions. While posters of Paswan, Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, welcoming Vaishali Sant Samagam were put up across the town, LJP’s Vaishali MP Rama Kishore Singh attended the three-day function twice and also praised BJP’s Gorakhpur MP Adityanath for “invoking feeling of nationalism”.
