Assembly rocked over deteriorating law and order situation
Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar Assembly was repeatedly adjourned on Monday following protests by the BJP legislators over the killing of four fishermen in Paliganj block of Patna district and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Both the Houses witnessed unruly scenes.The BJP MLAs first tried to gheroe the chief minister Jitan
Ram Manjhi, while he was entering the House.Later, when the House assembled the members created unruly scene forcing the Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary to adjourn the House till 12:00. When the House met again the BJP
legislators started shouting slogans against the state government forcing the House to be adjourned once again till 2:00 PM.
The party MLAs disrupted the post-lunch session too forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House till 11:00 on Tuesday morning.
The party MLAs sat on dharna outside the Assembly to protest the killing of four fishermen belonging to the Extremely Backward Castes.
Paliganj BJP MLA Usha Vidyarthi, while speaking to the media, demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh and government jobs and Indira Awas Yojana to the family members of those killed. She said that one of the injured is being treated in PMCH but had to foot the bill for medicine.
The MLA alleged that though the ruling party makes loud claim about the uplift of EBCs yet no arrest has been made and the chief minister is yet to visit the spot whereas her own party leader Sushil Kumar Modi had gone to the village just after the incident.
State BJP chief Mangal Pandey, MLC, said that the law and order had collapsed in the state. He raise the issue of hit-list of 23 people, most of them of the BJP, prepared by the former RJD MP, Shahabuddin.
The leader of opposition in the State Assembly, Nand Kishore Yadav, alleged that ever since the RJD had decided to support the state government the law and order situation had deteriorated.
MLAs like former minister Prem Kumar raised the issue of assault on ‘tilkut’ shopowner in Gaya by the bodyguard of Belaganj MLA, Surendra Yadav.
Parliamentary affairs minister Shrawan Kumar accused the BJP of disrupting the House because it did not want to debate the issue. His ministerial colleague Vijay Chaudhary said that
the opposition is raising non-issues and violating all the
norms and rules. They are just wasting precious time by not
allowing the House to function.
Agriculture minister Narendra Singh, on his part, said that
the BJP has mastered the art of disrupting the Assembly as
its leaders have no other work left.
