New Delhi, March 28: BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Friday expressed dissent over his party admitting expelled JD-U leader Sabir Ali in its ranks.
"Terrorist Bhatakal friend join BJP...soon accepting Dawood..." Naqvi tweeted.
There have been allegations on social media that Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yaseen Bhatkal was arrested from Sabir Ali's house. Police or the home ministry have, however, not given any such information officially.
The BJP has been a divided house over induction of new members, and distribution of tickets for the Lok Sabha polls. Recently Sri Ram Sene leader Pramod Muthalik was inducted into the BJP but the decision reversed within five hours following protests from leaders.
Talking to a TV news channel later, Naqvi said he "strongly protested" against the decision.
"We are against terror and Naxalism, we must have zero tolerance against such people," Naqvi said.
"A terrorist like Bhatkal was arrested from his house. Somewhere the party has made a mistake," he said.
Naqvi however defended party leaders saying they may not be aware of Ali's background and said the decision should be taken back just like Muthalik.
"If we can kick out Muthalik because he is Hindu-vadi, we can correct this mistake... We are well wishers of the party. How can we justify that a person who supported a terrorist is a member of the party," he said.
The Janata Dal-United Monday expelled Ali, its Lok Sabha candidate from Bihar's Sheohar, after he praised Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Ali Friday joined the BJP and once again praised Modi.
