Sabir Ali asks BJP to put on hold his membership

Patna,(BiharTimes): Even as the Sangh Parivar is divided on his issue Sabir Ali on Saturday asked the BJP to put on hold his membership till the controversy ends. He said that if any allegation of terrorists’ link levelled by party vice president, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, is proved right he would take retirement from politics.

He told the media that he had written a letter to the party’s Bihar affair incharge Dharmendra Pradhan in this regard.

However, he made it clear that he is not going to leave the BJP on his own as he is a grassroots level man.

Sabir Ali said that Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is like his elder brother and had worked with him for six years in Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, party leaders like former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and national vice president, Dr C P Thakur, have strongly defended Sabir Ali’s induction into the party.

Sushil Modi said that there is no case pending against him and the party would probe the allegations levelled against him.

Dr C P Thakur, on the other hand, said when till yesterday he was in JD(U) there was nothing wrong in him. Without taking the name of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi he asked why was this issue not raised when he was in the Rajya Sabha as JD(U) member?

However, leaders like Harendra Pratap and Rameshwar Chaurasia have publicly decried the party’s stand to offer red carpet welcome to Sabir Ali, who it must be recalled, was among the 50 MPs, who signed a letter urging the United States not to grant visa to Narendra Modi.
