BJP cancels Sabir Ali’s membership

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday afternoon cancelled the membership of Sabir Ali.

Making this announcement in New Delhi the party spokesman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, said that the party president, Rajnath Singh, has taken this decision after taking into account all the aspects involved in the matter.

Ravi Shankar referred to the letter written by Sabir Ali to Dharmendra Pradhan urging the party to put on hold his membership till the controversy ends.

Ravi Shankar also said that the party chief has asked the party leaders to raise the issue within the party forum and not discuss it in the public.

The party chief appeared to be upset over the way the national vice president, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, tweeted on Friday and had alleged that Sabir Ali has links with Yasin Bhatkal of Indian Mujahideen. However, the tweet was deleted on Saturday.

With eggs all over the face the BJP leaders are finding it difficult to explain the whole issue. It was not just Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, but even the RSS ideologue like Ram Madhav, who expressed strong displeasure over the party’s move to induct the expelled Janata Dal (United) leader.
