Nitish reminds voters of lantern age in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday trained his gun on the Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad by alleging that he threw the state into the lantern and lathi era.

Addressing an election meeting for his party’s candidate from Vaishali constituency, Vijay Kumar Sahni, he said that while he was working hard to improve the power condition in the state Lalu is pushing it back to the age of darkness.

He claimed that power supply in Bihar has increased from 700 MW during Lalu-Rabri era to 2,400 MW now. The target, according to him, is to increase power supply to 3,000 MW by end of 2014 and make it 4,000 MW by 2015.

Nitish also said that his government got built more than 14,000 small and big road bridges in the state and launched bi-cycle scheme to give a boost to education among girls. He also talked about the increase in reservation for women in rural and urban local bodies from 33 per cent to 50 per cent.

Sahni is contesting against RJD’s Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, former Union rural development minister.
