Manjhi calls on ailing Patil in Mumbai, seeks his help to develop Bihta, Gaya
Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday called on ailing state governor, D Y Patil, at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and said that he would like to remember the latter not only as a former governor, but also as an educationist.
He said that he would seek help from educationists of Maharashtra to help him in his endeavour to develop Bihta township as a world-class educational hub as well as develop a dental college and other institutions in his home town, Gaya.
Wishing the governor a speedy recovery the CM said he requested Patil to provide his expertise to Bihar too.
The chief minister said his government had started the process of allotting land near Gaya for the purpose and develop Bihta, which is spread over 2,500 acres of land. The hub is being developed by the Bihar Industrial Development Authority.
He said he had also initiated the process of attracting investments to the education sector through the Mumbai-based NGO Bihar Foundation.
Manjhi said the thrust would be to woo global and Indian shipping companies to open maritime training colleges in Bihta. More than 30 per cent of the country’s highly-trained merchant navy officers currently are from the Gangetic belt, he informed.
