Patna HC orders sealing of a portion of Anant Singh’s mall
Patna,(BiharTimes): A division bench of Patna high court comprising Justice V N Sinha and Justice P K Jha on Thursday ordered the sealing of the disputed portion of the shopping mall of controversial Janata Dal (United) MLA, Anant Singh, that was opened in breach of order of the Patna Municipal Corporation on September 26 last.
The court asked the district magistrate and SSP to ensure sealing activities on two upper floors of the main building, housing and shopping mall and a complete ban on activities on the annexed plot, housing the power unit and air-conditioning plant of the main building.
Additional advocate general, Ray Shivaji Nath, said the court had asked the DM and SSP to ensure compliance of order by Thursday evening itself.
The mall situated in Fraser Road in the state was opened on Sep 25 even as the Patna police refused to take note of the letter of Commissioner of PMC, Kuldeep Narayan in which he informed about the likely inauguration. So there was no police deployment of force to help the PMC carry out its order.
Later in the evening the district administration faced stiff resistance from the aide of Anant Singh and some shop-keepers when the police reached there at about 9:00 PM to implement the court order.
