Freight Corridor work slows down in Bihar

Patna,(BiharTimes): Work for the massive Dedicated Eastern Freight Corridor has virtually come to a stand still in Bihar.

The completion of the World Bank aided Rs 50,000 crore 1,839 km long project is likely to be delayed further as a temple falls on its path near Sasaram railway station.Besides, work on the Corridor can not be taken up till the construction work on road over bridge (ROB) on the National Highway is completed near Bhabua Road railway station.

The issue of land acquisition has also cropped up as farmers have moved court seeking more money.

The Eastern Freight Corridor runs between Ludhiana and Dankuni (near Kolkata). The Railway Board chairman has written to the chief secretary of Bihar urging him to remove hurdles in the construction.Work on Mughalsarai-Sonenagar section of the East Central Railway was to be completed by March 2014.
