NCBC chief backs Manjhi on upper castes domination

Patna,(BiharTimes): Virtually backing the line adopted by the chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Chairman of National Commission for Backward Classes Justice V Eswaraiah said the upper castes never allowed any backward class people to grow. They have been ruling the country since ages and even during the British period and after the implementation of Constitution they control political and the educational powers.
Replying to the media’s pointed question on Manjhi’s statement made recently about the foreign origin of upper castes he said Brahmins, who form just three per cent of population of the country, never allowed the backward classes to prosper.
Justice Eswaraiah was in Patna to conduct people’s courts (onThursday and Friday) and the Commission went through the recommendation of the state government to add 24 castes to the central list of backward classes.
The former Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad Justice Eswaraiah said the IAS, IPS officials as well as political leaders who have ruled never allowed the backward castes to develop, not to speak of giving them their share.
Justice Eswaraiah said the condition of people belonging to the backward class in Bihar is not good compared to other northern states such as Punjab and Haryana.
