Patna,(BiharTimes): The branch manager and an accountant of Canara Bank were abducted from Jamui district of Bihar on Monday night.Police sources said the abductors have reportedly demanded a
ransom of Rs 20 lakh for the release of the two bank employees.
The branch manager, Om Prakash Paswan, and accountant Ranjeet Kumar were posted at Rajla branch of the bank.According to Station House Officer (SHO), Jhajha, Neeraj Kumar, the police got information that the two bank officials were abducted, but their family members, perhaps out of fear, are not sharing information about the ransom calls with police. He said that police found Paswan’s motor-cycle at a deserted place near Satighat cremation ground, in the Jhajha police station area. Efforts are being made to ascertain whether it was criminals or Maoists who are behind the crime.
Raids are being conducted to trace the two bankmen and nab the criminals. Jamui SP Upendra Prasad Singh is camping in the area.
