Nitish seeks status of main opposition for JD(U) in Council
Patna,(BiharTimes): The ‘leader’ of Janata Dal (United) Legislature Party, Nitish Kumar, has written a letter to the chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council, Awadesh Narayan Singh, seeking the status of main opposition for his party in the Upper House.
He said that since the JD(U) is at present not in power the party is seeking the status of main opposition. Nitish is the leader of the JD(U) in the Upper House.Unlike the Speaker, the chairman of the Council is from the BJP.
The JD(U) has already sought the status of main opposition in the Assembly. Nand Kishore Yadav and Sushil Kumar Modi are the leader of opposition in the state Assembly and Council repectively. But the Speaker has recently stripped the BJP off the status of main opposition in the Assembly.
