Bihar ADG does not approve of Patna City (Central) SP’s behaviour
Patna,(BiharTimes): Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), Gupteshwar Pandey, on Monday said that the treatement meted out to the Inspector of Police of Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) by the Patna City (Central) SP, Shivdeep Lande, was not appropriate.
On the other hand the SSP Patna, Jitendra Rana, said that the Patna police was aware of the visit of the Moradababd Inspector.Rana said that he had sought a detailed report on the incident from Lande.According to him the matter will be investigated on the basis of his report and suitable action will be taken.
Earlier, on Sunday Lande caught Moradabad Inspector Sarv Chandra by his collar and dragged him to the police vehicle at Dak Bangalow roundabout where the latter had arrived in the morning to allegedly collect a bribe of Rs 10,000 from two traders of Patna.
Chandra was subsequently taken to the police station but was released a few hours later after the
Patna police contacted Moradabad police and recorded his statement. He was released after furnishing bond. Lande said four other UP police constables, who came with the Inspector, have not come forward.
Lande said that a cyber cafe owner in Patna named Pankaj had lodged a complaint with him that a team of policemen from the crime branch in Moradabad had been demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him to settle an old case of cyber crime. The shopkeeper had alleged that the UP police team had come to
inquire about a SIM card which had been sold from his shop in 2012.
Pankaj told the media that the SIM which had been sold from his shop was being used for cyber crimes. The Inspector asked him to give him Rs 10,000 to clear his (Pankaj’s) name in the case.
Reports said that the shopkeeper subsequently contacted Lande and informed him about the bribery demand. The UP Inspector was called at Dak Bangalow roundabout where Lande, who was in a disguise wearing a red T-shirt, jeans and a stole, was awaiting him and the other policemen. When the shopkeeper identified the Inspector, the SP pounced upon him and held him by his collar. Other policemen came to his help. The SP dragged the UP Inspector to his vehicle to take him to the Kotwali police station.
Chandra, however, has another story to tell. He denied the allegation and said that the shopkeeper had framed him under a conspiracy. He said that he had come to Patna in connection with the cases related to cyber crime.
