Vashistha calls on Sharad, says party chief upset over remarks of spokesmen

Patna,(BiharTimes): The state unit chief of Janata Dal (United), Vashistha Narayan Singh, said on Sunday that the party’s national president Sharad Yadav does not approve the statements given by the two state spokesmen of the party,Neeraj Kumar and Ajay Alok.

Talking to the media in New Delhi after meeting Sharad he said that chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi is likely to meet the party chief during his current visit to New Delhi. Manjhi is scheduled to meet prime minister Narendra Modi on January 20. He left Patna on Friday for pilgrimage to Shirdi and New Delhi.

Vashistha Narayan Singh said that Sharad Yadav had called for a strict guideline for the spokesmen of the party. They have been strongly asked not to give any such statement which harms the party. The ‘lakshman rekha’ should not be violated. This is unhealthy trend. He said that Sharad had ruled out any action against old and seasoned party leaders, even if they had said something.

Political observers are sceptical of any concrete result of Manjhi-Sharad meeting. They are of the view that late on Thursday evening Manjhi was called by RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Sharad to the residence of Nitish Kumar in Patna so that rapprochement could be brought about between the two. But nothing came out of the meeting.

According to reports Manjhi kept speaking on that evening, but Nitish spoke nothing. Perhaps Manjhi was upset over the way in which he was invited and counselled by Lalu. So the very next morning he, perhaps to tease RJD chief, went to the house of his brother-in-law, Sadhu Yadav. As this development
came just a few days ahead of chief minister’s scheduled meeting with the prime minister it sparked off political speculation as Sadhu is now considered close to the BJP.
