Bihar police to post SC/ST SHOs as per their population
Patna,(BiharTimes): Crime Investigation Department (CID) ADG (Weaker Sections) Arvind Pandey on Saturday sent a letter to all SSPs, SPs and Superintendents of Railway Police (SRPs), asking them to ensure posting of efficient SC/ST police officers as SHOs in proportion to the reservation granted to them by the state government.
The three-page letter said that during comprehensive review of the cases related to atrocities against SCs/STs in 1,021 police stations of the state and the data pertaining to the posting of SHOs, it was found SC/ST officers have not been posted as SHOs in proportion to the quota for them though there were several competent SC/ST sub-inspectors and inspectors in all police districts.
The Bihar government provides 16 per cent job reservation to SCs and one per cent to STs.The letter also underlined the need for extra-sensitivity to investigation of cases pertaining to atrocities against SCs/STs. This is the first such move taken by the state government after chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi held a meeting of all the SC/ST officials of the state in secretariat on January 11.
