Nitish visits Azizpur, suspects conspiracy behind riots

Patna,(BiharTimes): Shedding the past policy of not visiting the troubled spot former chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday met the victims of Azizpur village in Muzaffarpur district.Later while talking to the media he suspected some conspiracy behind the killing of four Muslims after the body of a Sahni boy, Bharatendu Kumar, was recovered on Jan 18. Nitish also met his family members and assured that everything would be thoroughly probed.

He smelled foul play and asked as to how can such a numerically strong mob assemble in no time to indulge in rioting.Nitish said that he had been told that the attackers came on many vehicles. He was not satisfied with the role played by the lower level of police, but went on to defend the district magistrate and superintendent of police as, according to him, it was their alertness which helped check the violence from spreading to other places.

The Janata Dal (United) leader assured all help to the victims and told them that the culprits involved in the incident would soon be brought to book and nobody would be allowed to go scot free. As the chief minister of Bihar for eight years Nitish had never visited any area where killing took place, be it Forbesganj, Jamui, Nawada or even Khagaria village where 16 people, 14 of them his castemen (Kurmis), were killed.

This time he was the last among the prominent political leaders of the state who visited Azizpur.
