BJP now stands for Bharatiya ‘Jumla’ Party, says Nitish
Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday that the BJP now stands for Bharatiya ‘Jumla’ Party as its leaders indulge in false promises and bogus claims.Replying to debate on the Governor’s address to the joint session of the state legislature he reiterated as to how false promises were made that Rs 15-20 lakh would be paid to everyone after the blackmoney is brought from banks abroad.
Now these BJP leaders say that they did not make any promise, but it was just s ‘jumla’ (sentence) made in election speech, Nitish said adding that they did not fulfil the promises made to farmers on payment of minimum support price and youths for jobs.
The chief minister defended his government’s move to rescind the decisions taken by the then Jitan Ram Manjhi cabinet at its fag end. He clarified that the cabinet decision were annulled due to procedural lapse and not on the basis of the merit of those decisions. There is a laid down prodecure for bringing up a particular agenda for consideration of cabinet as per rules of executive business, but the same was not followed by the Manjhi cabinet.
According to him a cabinet cannot take decisions on any agenda without substantive note prepared by the concerned departments, but the procedure was ignored leaving a question mark on propriety of such decisions. He said if Manjhi was serious about the cabinet decisions he should have taken them much earlier. Why he rushed through them in the last moment? Who had stopped him from taking decisions like one to give 13 months salaries to policemen in view of their difficult service conditions? Nitish said in principle the decision in this regard was taken by him before he had resigned last year.
The CM said when would have these decision implemented as even the court had restrained him from taking policy decisions till February 21.
Nitish came down heavily on the BJP for coming to Manjhi’s defence and asked the saffron party leaders to stop worrying about these cabinet decisions. Now they are saying that it is the internal matter of the JD(U). If it was so why are they so much bothered about. The truth is that they were interfering in the affairs of JD(U) and when their gameplan failed they are indulging in useless talks.
Nitish once again said that Bihar would suffer loss due to the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission and urged the state BJP leaders to support the cause in the larger interest of Bihar.
