Patna,(BiharTimes): When chief minister Nitish Kumar was breaking his fast on Sunday morning RJD president, Lalu Prasad, along with thousands of supporters were taking to the streets of Patna to protest against the Land Acquisition Bill and Centre’s failure to bring back black-money from abroad. The march started from JP-roundabout near Gandhi Maidan after Lalu’s arrival at 12:30 PM and ended up at Raj Bhawan where a petition was submitted.
Like Nitish a day earlier, Lalu charged prime minister Narendra Modi, with reneging on promises made during the Lok Sabha election campaign last year and for dancing to the tune of the corporate lobby. He too termed the latest Bill as black-law being enacted only to facilitate the big business houses.
Lalu said that the march was just a beginning and would lead to a full-fledged agitation across Bihar and rest of the country to throw out the Narendra Modi government. He asked as to what had happened to Rs 26.5 lakh crore black money stashed in foreign banks and which Modi promised to bring back. When would his government deposit Rs 15 lakh in the account of each and every Indian.Lalu said that now these BJP people are looking for excuses and saying that it was just a ‘jumla’. Now they are stating that they had no idea of how much money is stashed abroad.
He too said that Modi promises employment to youths but has instead slashed the number of jobs.Lalu praised the Land Acquisition Act passed during the UPA government and termed it as an ideal one.Lalu’s show of strength was planned and announced much before Nitish Kumar’s fast on almost the same issues. The chief minister made the announcement about the fast on March 1 rally of JD(U) in Patna.
Many political observers are of the view that Nitish perhaps want to score political point over Lalu by sitting on fast a day earlier. But RJD suprmo, in his inimitable style, tried to overshadow he JD(U) show. He sounded more combative and aggressive.
This is for the first time after several months that Lalu took part in any big show in Patna. He got operated last year and then had his youngest daughter married last month. Now he would be watched closely not only by the rival BJP but JD(U), which enjoys the support of his party
