Mumbai, Sep 8 (IANS) Veteran singer Asha Bhosle has turned a year older on Sunday, and her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar posted an adorable wish for Asha on social media.
"Namaskar. Aaj meri choti behen Asha Bhosle ka Janamdin hai. Main usko aashirwad deti hun ki wo hamesha swasth rahe aur khush rahe (Today is the birthday of my little sister. I bless her. May she always stay healthy)," Lata Mangeshkar, an evergreen singer of the Indian film industry, tweeted.
Lata Mangeshkar also shared a video of Asha's track "Nigahein milane ko jee chahta hai" from the 1963 film "Dil Hi To Hai".
Asha started her career in the 1940s. With a career spanning over six decades, the 86-year-old has given her fans several hit songs like "Raat akeli hai", "Kajra mohabbat wala" , "Dum maro dum" and "Zara sa jhoom loon main", among several others.
She is also a recipient of the highest civilian awards in India, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan.
Wishing Asha on her birthday, actress Kajol took to Instagram and posted a photograph in which she can be seen posing with the legendary singer.
"Happy birthday Asha tai! Always a legend and forever so loving," Kajol wrote.
Actor Rishi Kapoor wished Asha, saying he will meet her soon.
"Many happy returns of the day dear Ashaji. Remember celebrating your birthday at Pancham's (R.D. Burman) terrace. You cooked for us. Back soon will come and meet. God Bless,love you," Rishi added.
