Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inspected the ongoing development works at the Digha Tourism Ghat, located on the banks of the Ganga river. During the inspection, officials informed the Chief Minister that the Tourism Department is developing Janardan Ghat as a full-fledged tourism ghat.
While reviewing the progress, the Chief Minister directed officials to construct a comprehensive park at the Digha Tourism Ghat. He also instructed that the ghat be converted into a permanent (pucca) structure and that proper arrangements be made for Ganga Aarti, so that a large number of visitors can enjoy the experience. Emphasising the importance of tourist facilities, Nitish Kumar said that basic and quality amenities should be developed for tourists who come here for boating and leisure on the Ganga.

Later, the Chief Minister inspected the construction work of the new six-lane bridge being built parallel to the JP Setu. During the inspection, he directed officials to ensure that the construction work is completed at a fast pace and within the stipulated time. He said that once the new bridge is completed, the traffic burden on the existing JP Setu will reduce significantly. The bridge will play a crucial role in making travel between north and south Bihar smoother and more convenient.
Present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Tourism Department Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Deore; Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan S.M. and several other senior officials.
