IPS officers not bidding farewell to arms

Patna, (Bihar Times): The Bihar government on Friday said that an investigation was underway on the sensitive issue of police officials not surrendering the government arms even after their retirement or going on central deputation.

According to the power minister Vijendra Yadav there are reports of IPS officials, going on central deputation, without submitting their official arms. He said some of these officials have even retired yet they have not returned their revolvers. The minister was replying to a short-notice question of senior RJD MLA Abdul Bari Siddiqu in the state assembly on Friday. The minister assured the House that action would be taken once the inquiry report comes.

Earlier, Siddiqui claimed that 18 IPS officers had gone on central deputation or on deputation to Jharkhand without submitting their official revolvers which attracted stringent punitive action. He said the matter had come to light after six rifles were found missing from Bihar Military Police (BMP) headquarters in Muzaffarpur sometimes back.
