Nitish refrains from commenting on Gujarat CM’s utterances

Patna, (Bihar Times): While talking to newsmen on Thursday Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar asked his Gujarat counter-part, Narendra Modi, to refrain from raising the issue of Shorabuddin Shaikh encounter. A day later in Patna while piqued by the newsmen to comment on the same issue he refrained from speaking anything on that subject.

“Narendra Modi is the chief minister of Gujarat. Here I only know Sushil Kumar Modi,” he replied.

While addressing about half a dozen public meetings in Gujarat on Thursday Nitish interestingly raised the issue of Bhagalpur riots there. He held both the Congress and RJD responsible for ignoring the riots victims. He avoided speaking much on the prevailing situation in Gujarat. It needs to be mentioned that that his party, the Janata Dal (U) is contesting 36 seats this time and the chief minister is hopeful of increasing the tally from the present strength of two. But the party is seriously handicapped by the absence of the former Union defence minister and NDA convenor, George Fernandes, who had more say in that state than Nitish Kumar.
