Patna, (Bihar
Times): RJD leaders Ram Kripal Yadav and Shyam Rajak have sought immediate action
against the Janata Dal (United) spokesman, Shivanand Tiwary, for spiting in river
Ganga during Chhath. National
spokesman of the party Shyam Rajak on Monday staged a sit-in along with supporters
to protest against the act of profanity. Tiwary spat in the holy river while taking
steamer ride along with chief minister Nitish Kumar and deputy CM Sushil Kumar
Modi during the Chhath festival on Friday.
Rajak said that the chief minister should take a dip in the river Ganga and seek
forgiveness for this act of discretion. He said Tiwaris conduct betrayed
little respect for the
religious sensibilities of the devout. He
said neither the chief minister nor the deputy chief minister, Sushil Modi, who
belong to BJP and must
be aware of the pride of place occupied by the Ganga in Hindu faith did nothing
to stop Tiwari from spitting in the river.
Tiwari on his part asked: Does a mother get angry when
her child urinates in her lap? The Ganga is our mother, how can she get angry
with us?"
He said Ganga can not become impure as bodies are burnt on its ghats and ashes
immersed in it.
