Patna, (Bihar
Times): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday announced that very soon Motihari
will have a new university named after the Father of the Nation, Mahatma
Gandhi. It was in Champaran that Gandhiji first launched his movement against
the British in 1917. Earlier
the chief minister laid the foundation stone of a road bridge between Motihari
and Sitamarhi. This road-bridge over river Bagmati will reduce the distance
between the two towns by 70 kilometres. The total cost will be Rs 83.25 crore.
Recently the railway minister, Lalu Yadav, also laid the foundation stone
of rail track between the two districts. Nitish
said that a proposal to link the rivers of the state have been sent to the
Centre for approval. Once this Rs 11000 crore proposal is passed and implemented it
would certainly reduce the devastation of flood in North Bihar. He said that
talks between India and Nepal over construction of high dams over the rivers originating
from Himalaya is going on. He assured that the people of Nepal would be benefited
more by these dams.
