Patna, (Bihar Times): Famous
Madhubani painter, Yashoda Devi, died of throat cancer at Lodhipur residence
in Patna late on Saturday night. She was 63 and is survived by two daughters
and two sons. She was cremated at Gulabi Ghat on Sunday. Yashoda,
who won several awards, belonged to Jitwarpur village in Madhubani district.
Jitwara is known internationally for producing several Madhubani painting
artists. She was especially famous for painting Kohbar, the room of bride. She
represented Bihar in all the national-level Madhubani painting exhibitions
and was offered job to impart training at workshop by various state governments,
including Bihar. The
chief minister, Nitish Kumar, condoled her death.
