(Bihar Times): Mr Justice Aftab Alam, acting Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir
High Court was on Monday sworn in as a judge of the Supreme Court by the Chief
Justice of India, K G Balakrishnan. Before June 2007 Justice Aftab Alam was a
judge of the Patna high court. He is the 12th judge from the Patna high court
to go to Supreme Court after 1950. Fifty-nine
years old Justice Alam did his B Sc from Patna University and completed his Law
graduation from the same university. He got enrolled as an advocate in Patna high
court in 1973. He was appointed judge of the Patna high court on July 27, 1990. Justice
Alam took oath with the chief justice of Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan high courts.
Thus the Supreme Court now has 25 judges, just one short of its total strength.
