|            | Patna, (Bihar Times): The Bihar government’s publicity
material on tourism has been rejected by the Air
India. The plan was to christen Bihar on one of its
    new Boeing 777-300ER.
According to the sources the publicity material was
rejected because it was sub-standard. As a part of
damage limitation exercise the state government has
now entrusted the task to a professional firm.
However, it has to dole out Rs one lakh for this
purpose. The fresh material will be re-sent to the Air
India after it is ready by the end of this month.

It needs to be reminded that the Air India had
sometimes back decided to name its new fleet after
different states of country and to help each state
develop promote itself on the aircraft named after it.

The Air India was providing the states promotional
opportunities free of cost. These opportunites include
screening of a ten-minute film on the state and a
four-page promotional literature to be placed on each
of the flight, which can be changed every month or
ater a fortnight. Besides, the aircraft will have four
pictures displayed on the respective states.

Though Boeing 777-300 ER has been flying on the
    Delhi-London-New York route and the
Mumbai-Paris-Newark route for the last three months
yet it is not carrying the publicity material because
the Air India rejected them on the grounds of being
not of international standard. The rejection of
material has come as a big embarrassment for the
    officials here.
