Patna, April 14 : The Patna police have arrested the younger son of slain IAS officer V.N. Mishra, who died under mysterious circumstances last week.
The police said Rahul Mishra, in his 30s, was arrested along with domestic help Kameshwar Sah, as circumstantial evidence pointed towards their involvement in the retired bureaucrat's death Friday.
"We arrested Rahul and Sah on the basis of enough evidence against them in the killing of V.N. Mishra," said Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar.
"Rahul and Kameshwar tried to hide their crime by not taking Mishra to a hospital. And had it not been for the anonymous caller, we would have never known the real cause of Mishra's death," said Kumar.
The police said Rahul was pressing his father to hand over property to him. Rahul and his wife were living with Mishra.
Mishra was found dead at his residence in Kavi Raman Path under the jurisdiction of the Buddha Colony police station.
Soon after his death, the police detained Rahul and Kameshwar for interrogation on suspicion of their involvement in the crime.
An autopsy was conducted that confirmed finger marks on the victim's neck indicating possible strangulation as the cause of his death.
Rahul and Kameshwar are to be produced before a court later Monday.
