Patna, (Bihar Times): The Patna police late on Monday
night seized an Ambassador car belonging to Anil Kumar
after a complaint that someone from the vehicle tried
to terrorize and abduct the former President of the
Indian Medical Association, Dr Ajay Kumar.
Anil Kumar, though not in the car, was detained by the
police as he was its owner. He told police that the
car was taken by his driver for meal and he was not
aware as to what actually transpired between him and the doctor. He is one of the nephews of railway
minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
According to Dr Ajay Kumar a car, with four youths,
tried to intercept his vehicle near the Bailey Road
Gate of the Park. The Ambassador kept chasing his
vehicle till Getwell Hospital in Raja Bazar, where one
of the four traveling on the Ambassador attacked the
doctor’s car with a stick and sped away.
Dr Kumar told police that he noted down the
registration number of the car and informed the
police, which swung into action and soon recovered the
Ambassador. However, none of those in the car,
including the driver, could be arrested.
Police are not saying anything clear-cut as to whether
it was really an attempt to abduct the doctor––as the
latter alleges––or another example of road-rowdyism,
which has become a favourite pastime of many youths.
But since the car belonged to Anil he was asked to
come to the Sachivalaya police station and
interrogated.
Incidentally, this is not the first incident involving
Dr Ajay Kumar, who is a noted urologist. Only
sometimes back a large number of people from his
neighbourhood in Ashiana Nagar attacked his house. It
was then said that his son had a tiff with somebody in
the locality.
