Patna, (Bihar Times): Much to the dismay of the
entrepreneurs the state government recently filed a
Leave Petition Appeal challenging the one-bench ruling
of the Patna high court. The court last month struck
down the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority’s
(BIADA) cancellation of the industrial plots to a
large number of entrepreneurs.
The entrepreneurs are feeling let down by the
government’s decision which will further hit the
effort to industrialized the state. They were feeling
elated after the court ruling. What is more shocking
for them was that though the LPA was filed on April 17
it was brought before the BIADA’s board for approval
on April 23. After the judgment the entrepreneurs were
expecting that things would come back to normal. But
the BIADA’s decision to file the LPA poured cold water
on their expectation.
It needs to be mentioned that the BJP and its trade
wing was very much critical of the BIADA. The Bihar
Industry Association also accused the bureaucrats of
misleading the state government. One of its
office-bearers said that so far not a single
entrepreneurs from outside have come to Bihar. Move
like this would further hamper the process of
industrialization re-started by the state government.
The irony is that the BIADA move came notwithstanding
the advocate general P K Shahi’s opinion that the
action of BIADA was not tenable.
