Patna, (Bihar Times): A day after the ‘abduction’
attempt former President of Indian Medical
Association, Dr Ajay Kumar, has egg all over his face
as his allegation before the television channels and
newspapers proved totally wrong.
According to the deputy superintendent of police
(Sachivalaya), Sridhar Mandal, there was no mention of
abduction bid in the written complaint to the police
made by Dr Ajay Kumar immediately after the incident
on Monday night.
The case was lodged with the Airport Police Station.
Since all the Sections were bailable the two persons
detained by the police, Anil Kumar, the owner of the
car, and Ravindra Kumar Sao, his accomplice, were
released on the bail by the police. Anil, one of the
nephews of Railway Minister, Lalu Yadav, was not in
the car at the time, but since the car was registered
in his name he too was detained.
Ravindra, who was in the Ambassadors, told police that
he along with the driver was returning home near
Veterinary College from Visvesvarayya Bhawan (where
different government departments are situated) near
Secretariat to collect documents for the payment of
bills. He said that he was in a hurry as he had to
submit the papers for the payment of bills immediately
as Monday was the last day of the financial year. But
the driver of the Scorpio did not give pass leading to
the exchange of words. He also charged that the
persons in the Scorpio––Dr Ajay Kumar’s car––were in
drunken state.
What angered police officers is that though Dr Kumar
made no written complaint about the abduction he rang
up newspaper offices and television channels to claim
that an attempt was made to kidnap him.
