Patna, April 4:A woman and her four children were charred to death inside their home in a Bihar village, a police official said Friday.
The police said five people including four children were burnt to death late Thursday night when a fire broke out in a house at Dinmanpur village under the jurisdiction of Khanpur police station in Samastipur district.
"Following a storm, a fire broke out after a burning lamp fell and engulfed the house of Hiralal Rai when they were asleep," the police official said.
Hiralal's wife Majula Devi, 40, and four children Sangita, 10, Sarita, 8, Shivkumar, 5, and Rajkumar, 2, were killed.
The district administration announced an ex-gratia of Rs.100,000 and a house.
A storm hit the state Thursday night. Properties as well as crops were damaged.
