Patna, (Bihar Times) : With the parliamentary election
only months away the Janata Dal (United) has started
seeking its own pound of flesh from the BJP.
On Sunday its national spokesman and recently elected
Rajya Sabha MP, Shivanand Tiwary, asserted that the
NDA should project the “Bihar Model of Development” as
its election plank, rather than the “Gujarat Model”
being projected by the BJP president, Lal Krishna
Advani, the NDA’s prime ministerial candidate.
Tiwary did not name Advani or Gujarat cief minister,
Narendra Modi, but said that “The Bihar Model”
represents harmony and co-existence of all sections of
the society, including Muslims, Dalits and people from
the backward classes. Chief minister Nitish Kumar had
tried to make Bihar an all-inclusive society which
should be adopted as a model by the NDA, he said.
Though the Janata Dal (United) fought separately in
Gujarat and the final decision regardin Karnataka is
yet to be taken the message from the JD(U) is loud and
clear: it does not like to toe the Narendra Modi line.
In a bid to downplay the ‘achievement’ of Narendra
Modi the national spokeman of the Janata Dal United
pointed out that Gujarat had been a financially
secured state for long and “it is not that Gujarat is
a developed state only because of one chief minister’s
contributions.”
Contrary to Gujarat, Tiwary said, Bihar was in the
dark ages when the Nitish Kumar government took over
its reigns. Now it is for the entire country to see
how the state is shaping up, he claimed.
Tiwary, who was till recently in the Rashtriya Janata
Dal said the Nitish government started from zero. Now,
it is on the development track, because the chief
minister has tried to ensure a harmonious existence of
all sections and a environment of development.
