Patna, (Bihar Times): In a major move the state
government transferred the director general of police,
Ashish Ranjan Sinha, and made him DG (Home Guard).
The DG (Home Guard) S C Jha has been made the new DGP.
Apart from Sinha 17 more IPS officers have been
transferred by the state government. Sinha’s removal
from the post of DGP is very significant as
he not only hails from Nitish Kumar’s home district,
Nalanda, but was also considered close to him.
It needs to be mentioned that only a few days back the
state government transferred the SSP, Patna, Kundan
Krishnan, and made him superintendent of police of
Bhagalpur. The latter was a close confidant of Sinha.
Sources close to the government say that Sinha’s
transfer was very much on the cards following the
repeated failure of the police to check the crime in
the state.
