| Patna, (Bihar Times): In a move to popularize yoga the
Bihar government has decided to appoint one yoga
teachers in each primary health centres. Bihar thus
will have the distinction of becoming the first state
to introduce this system and give boost to it.
Nine districts, including Patna, have been selected
for the pilot project and the state government has
decided to earmark Rs 10 crore for this purpose in the
next financial year. Swami Ramdev’s Yogpeeth
(Haridwar) and Munger-based Bihar School of Yoga have
been approached to provide trainers. These yoga
teachers will share chamber with the doctors in the
PHCs.
Apart from the state capital Gaya, Muzaffarpur,
Darbhanga, Munger, Bhagalpur, Chapra, Purnea and
Saharsa have been selected for the pilot project.
According to health secretary, Deepak Kumar, the idea
is to create awareness about yoga among the people.
Yoga camps have also been planned by the state
government. Gradually all the PHCs of the state will
have at least one yoga teachers.
