| Patna, (Bihar Times): A sum of Rs 18.82 crore has been
sanctioned for upgrading the Patna-based Indira Gandhi
Institute of Medical Sciences. The state cabinet took
the decision in this regard on Tuesday.
According to the cabinet secretary Girish Shankar Rs
10.30 crore has been approved as grant-in-aid for
improving the facilities of patients, besides repair
and renovation of the buildings, parks and boundary
wall.
It needs to be mentioned that the government has
planned to start the MBBS course in the Institute. The
Union government has also decided to help the state
government in this project. Besides, the nursing
school will be upgraded to nursing college.
He said that a grant of Rs 5.5 crore has been approved
for the purchase of machines, books and journals.
Moreover Rs 2.43 crore grant has been approved for the
repair of machines and equipment of vaiours
departments. The remaining Rs 79 lakh has been
approved as grant-in-aid for purchase of beds,
including those for the neuro-ICU, dialysis beds,
computer tables, chairs and racks and almirahs.
