Patna, (Bihar Times): The Mauritius government will
offer scholarships to two Bihari students every year.
These students would be enrolled in the Mauritius
University for study.
This was announced by the visitng Mauritius Prime
Minister Navin Chandra Ramgoolam at a banquet hosted
by Governor R S Gavai, in his honour on Monday night.
He also announced $ 2.5 lakh aid for development of
hospital, schools and roads at Harigaon, the village
of his ancestors.

Meanwhile, the government of Mauritius has launched an
initiative, ‘Trace Your Roots’ to help the Biharis
living in that country in tracing their roots and
ancestral homes back in India, especially in Bihar.
Bihar Roots Foundation has been set up in this regard.
This would strengthen the ties with Bihar.
According to BRF President, Goorooduth Chuttoo, the
primary aim of the Foundation is to connect the people
of Bihari origin to their ancestors, propagate and
preserve their language, Bhojpuri and promote local
Bihari heritage on a global platform. Besides, a
Mauritius House will be set up in Patna soon to
facilitate the tourists from that country.
