Patna, (Bihar Times): The Mauritius Prime Minister has
a hectic day on his last day of three-day tour to
Bihar. He visited Bodh Gaya and Nalanda and took a
boat-ride in river Ganga with the chief minister,
Nitish Kumar, before leaving for his country. In Bodh
Gaya he offered prayer at Mahabodhi Temple and was
visibly impressed by it.

Later while addressing a joint Press Conference with
chief minister Nitish Kumar in Bodh Gaya he expressed
hope that his visit would strengthen ties with Bihar.
He also visited the remains of the ancient Nalanda
University. Ramgoolam stressed closer cultural ties
between Bihar and Mauritius.
“We will strengthen our cultural ties,” he said fully
agreeing with the chief minister Nitsih Kumar for
having a cultural centre in Bihar. Ramgoolam said that
his visit to Bihar is a new beginning after Nitish
Kumar’s visit to Mauritius last year.
It needs to be mentioned that in the joint Press
conference at Bodh Gaya the chief minister announced
that the state government would set up a Mauritius
Cultural Centre here to strengthen bilateral ties and
to help Mauritians of Bihar origin to trace their
roots. Besides, Bihar Foundation would also help them
in this regard.
In Nalanda he was briefed by the officials of the
Archaeological Survey of India about the great Chinese
traveller Huan Tsang who studied and taught there
several centuries back. He was also briefed on the
proposed Nalanda International University, the brain
child of former President, A P J Abdul Kalam, and the
road-map drawn for the development of 200 villages
adopted by the university.
