Six tonnes explosives meant for Maoists seized from Nawada

 

Patna (BiharTimes): Over 6,000 kilogrammes of gelatin sticks and detonators were seized by the police from a truck near Akbarpur block of Nawada district of Bihar. The area falls just near the Bihar-Jharkhand border and police have arrested seven persons suspected to be Maoists.

According to the IG (Operations) S K Bharadwaj 40,000 gelatin sticks, 8,640 detonators and 23 bundles of high explosive wires, were seized near Makhor village in the Akbarpur police station area. The police acted on a tip-off.

Those arrested confessed before the police that the consignment was on way from Guna in Madhya Pradesh to to Maoist groups active in Sheikhpura, Jamui, Lakhisarai and Munger districts of Bihar.

The truck number RJ 06 4327 and a Maruti ca No WB 56 A 6132 were intercepted near Makhor and recovered the explosives.

The arrested persons are: Man Singh, the driver of the truck, Raju cleaner, both from Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh, Subodh Singh, Munna Kumar, Karu Ravidas, Sanoj Kumar and Dayanand Kumar from Sheikhpura, Nawada and Nalanda districts of Bihar.

It will only be after interrogation that police would be able to confirm that those arrested are Maoists or just acting as a conduit.
