Patna, (Bihar Times): The career of thousands of students of Bihar are hanging in balance due to the ongoing strike in all the nine universities and 250-odd colleges. The Bihar State University and College Employees Federation is on strike since July 1.

Students are thronging at the gate of various universities and colleges only to find the gates locked. On Friday a large number of students even protested in semi-nude posture to register their protest against the government’s apathetical attitude towards the issue. A couple of days back students of Jaya Prakash University Chapra went on the warpath after the university postponed the examination.

Students, who have passed Intermediate, graduation and other professional examinations in the recent weeks are unable to take out their results, marksheets, migration and other documents because of the strike. Many of these students have got admitted in the prestigjous colleges elsewhere in the country or had got good job.

It is not just that the state government was maintaining a stoic silence over the issue, even the non-teaching employees are playing cruel joke with the fate of these young talents. As if that is not enough FUSTAB president, Ram Jatan Sinha, has once again threatened that the university and college teachers would go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met.

Students are furious not only with the state government and non-teaching staff, but also with the teachers, who form the intellectual backbone of the state. “How can they behave in such a callous manner? It is giving a bad name to the state, which had already suffered a lot” one of them asked.
