Patna, (Bihar Times): R K Singh, the deputy superintendent of police (Mobile) attached to the transport department, along with four others, were caught red-handed by the assistant superintendent of police, Sunil Naik, while they were extorting money from truck drivers on National Highway-2 (Grand Trunk Road) in Aurangabad district late on Saturday night. While all the four transport department employees were forwarded to jail on Sunday the DSP was kept in the police custody for further interrogation.
The ASP was passing through the Highway when he saw a beacon-light fitted Commander jeep parked on the roadside. Apparently the DSP and his men were checking the papers of the trucks. However, when the ASP reached the spot he was told by a truck driver that the DSP was extorting money from the drivers. His truck was on way to Kolkata from Jabalpur. When the ASP tried to verify the allegations he was threatened by the DSP and his men. It was only after this that they were taken into custody. The ASP also recovered huge amount of money from them.
The four arrested associate of the DSP––Vijay Kumar Singh, Sunil Kumar, Uday Singh and Brajesh Kumar––confessed that the DSP had employed them on Rs 2,000 per month salalry. They also revealed that the DSP mostly lives in Patna and visits Aurangabad from time to time.
