Patna, (Bihar Times): The Janata Dal (United) on Thursday expelled two of its MPs, Ram Swaroop Prasad, from Nalanda in Bihar and P P Koya from Lakshdweep for violating the party’s whip on trust vote on Tuesday. Prasad voted in favour of the United Progressive Alliance while Koya abstained from voting.
Incidentally it took two days for the party to take the firm decision against the two MPs.
Ram Swaroop’s switching over the side came as a rude shock to the party as he is the only Kurmi MP of the NDA from Bihar and was hand-picked by none else but the chief minister, Nitish Kumar, in September 2006. Earlier this seat was represented in Parliament by Nitish himself.
However, Nitish minced no word to denounce his action and said that he was aware of his activities ever since the Islampur assembly by-election held last year.
