Patna, (Bihar Times): A relative of the recently expelled Janata Dal (United) MP from Nalanda, Ram Swaroop Prasad, was killed by a fellow inmate in Biharsharif Divisional Jail on Friday morning.
Alakhdev Mahto (65), serving life sentence, lost his life while two others suffered injuries in a clash on Friday morning. It is said that he was battered to death with a brick by a fellow prisoner Arjun Singh, who was also undergoing life imprisonment. said.
According to Jailor Jitendra Kumar Singh though the reason behind the incident could not be immediately known the two had an altercation over some trivial matter following which Singh attacked Mahto with a brick causing his death.
An injured Mahto was rushed to the Sadar hospital here, where he later succumbed to injuries.
Two other inmates, Mohammed Arzoo and Raj Nandan Mahto, who tried to intervene, were also attacked by Singh. Raj Nandan Mahto has been rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital in serious condition.
