Patna, (Bihar Times): There is no respite for the
patients as well as the Nitish government as senior
doctors of the Patna Medical College Hospital
condemned the ‘one-sided’ administrative crack-down on
the junior doctors and gave a 72 hours ultimatum.
Among other things they sought the immediate
withdrawal of the suspension order with retrospective
effect against all the junior doctors, immediate
reinstatement of Dr R K P Singh as the principal of
the College and impartial inquiry into what actually
happened on June 5. It needs to be mentioned that the
state government a couple of days back removed the
principal Dr R K P Singh with Dr C B Chaudhary, the
principal of the Nalanda Medical College Hospital.
The senior doctors ultimatum has put the state
government in a fix. The doctors, not only held an
open meeting at auditorium on the PMCH campus, but
also raised slogans against the new principal Dr
Chaudhary and the state government.
The resolution adopted by the senior doctors
threatened that they would chart out a phase-wise
agitation against the state government if their
demands are not met within 72 hours. Dr D K Sinha has
been elected as the convenor of the Steering Committee
of the doctors.
Meanwhile, the police is yet to arrest any of the
junior doctors against whom the warrant of arrest has
been issued. This reflects the government’s indecision
over the issue as it is under intense pressure from
some reputed doctors of the state who incidentally are
close to the National Democratic Alliance.
