Patna, (Bihar Times): Fulfilling the Railway Budget
2008 promise railway minister Lalu Yadav on Wednesday
flagged off the Jogbani-Sealdah Seemanchal Express at
Jogbani on the newly constructed broad gauge on
Katihar-Jogbani section. The route goes via Purnea and
falls in Katihar division of North East Frontier
Railway. Jogbani is the last town on the India-Nepal
border and would help transport goods for Nepal
directly from Kolkata port.
While prasing the achievements of the railways Lalu
said that those living in the region would no longer
face difficulty in traveling to other parts of the
country. Soon two more trains, one for the South and
one for New Delhi would start from Jogbani.
The work to convert 108 kms Katihar-Jogbani metre
gauge into broad gauge started in 2004.
