Patna, (Bihar Times): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on
Thursday said that like in Hindu society the most
deprived section of Muslims and Christians should also
be given Schedule Caste status.
The chief minister said that his government had taken
steps to ensure social, educational and economic
development of the society, especially the weaker
section of the society. Bihar was the first state to
fix 50 per cent quota in civic bodies’ election and
appointment of teachers. It gave preference to the
depressed sections and women in these appointments.
The demand was earlier made on behalf of Sain Shah
Committee by its national president, Taslim Jamal
Jauhari, at Adhikar Sammelan, organized in
collaboration with the Pasmanda Samaj on Thursday. The
Committee also demanded special programmes for the
social, educational and economic uplift of the
backward Muslims. Besides, they also sought the
establishment of special schemes for them.
