Patna, (Bihar Times): In view of his proposed visit to
several countries in quick succession Railway Minister
Lalu Prasad on Tuesday demanded his passport from the
CBI court of Ranchi. The first official tour to take
place in the next few months starts from May 12 with a
trip to Singapore and Malaysia.
It needs to be mentioned that Lalu had to submit his
passport on the court’s directive in connection with
RC-38, a regular case of fodder scam. His counsel
filed an application before the special CBI court on
Tuesday to release the passport. However, keeping in
view the urgency of the tour the designated judge
Sanjay Prasad immediately took up the matter and
directed the CBI to file a reply on May 5.
The railway minister is scheduled to give a lecture at
INSEAD business school in Singapore on May 12. He will
interact with about 350 MBA students at the institute,
which is among the top ten business school of the
world. He will also give them an insight into
Lalunomics in the Indian railways.
Lalu is also scheduled to visit Malaysia on May 15 in
connection with Rs 4,000 crore high speed corridor
project bagged by the IRCON amid tough international
competition.
Next month he is scheduled to visit China and Japan to
make a detail study of the metro network in both the
countries. Efforts would be made to adopt the same
system in India.
In 2007 he toured France, Italy and England and
interacted with aspiring business brains of renowned
Business schools of the world. The World Bank, Japan
and South Korea also invited him to share his
experiences as one of the most successful Railway
Minister of the country. He was also scheduled to
deliver a lecture at the World Bank’s headquarters in
Washington last year, but could not do so because of
Parliament session.
Later this year the railway minister is also likely to
address American and Bangladeshi bureaucrats in
Washington and Dhaka respectively.
