Patna, May 19 : A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two government officials in Bihar's Gopalganj district, a police official said Sunday.
The 14-year-old class nine student of a government school was kidnapped in an official vehicle and raped by two officials posted at Bijapur block in Gopalganj, about 250 km from here.
After the news spread like wildfire Saturday, hundreds of angry locals attacked the block office, pelted stones and ransacked the official residence of the accused - circle officer Tarkeshwar Sah and circle inspector Shankar Jha.
Villagers caught Shah when he was trying to flee and thrashed him. The police reached and rescued him, the official said.
The rape victim, resident of Madarpur village, was working as a maid servant at the official residence of Sah.
"She was forced into their official vehicle and taken to Deoria district in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, where they raped her," the police was told by the girl's parents and villagers after she narrated the incident to them.
Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Anil Sinha said an FIR has been lodged against the circle officer, circle inspector and the driver of the official vehicle.
The two officials had been charged with rape and taken into custody. "We have launched a search operation to arrest the driver," said Sinha.
